Lost in the thrill of it all ♫♪ – Part I
Hello, it’s me (Adele’s voice).
I should warn you, this is going to be a long ass post. So in case you get tired of reading at some point, I should start by saying:

For the ones that has been asking me what I’ve been up to, or where have I been at all… I’m alive!
I know I’ve been lost lately, and not only from writing on the blog.
I have been so lost in the thrill of checking things off from my WL, and discovering the unknown, that I haven’t been able to write, post pictures on social media, or talking to my closest ones to tell all the things I’ve been doing. A reason good enough to deserve your forgiveness for my absence, don’t you think?
If I haven’t convinced you yet, maybe a various amount of summaries of my new adventures in the last 2 months could help.
Weekend #1
I just added #46 to the WL, “Have a Solo trip”. “But why alone”, you may ask. Even I doubted myself it would be fun to do something without my “fun people” around. I even rejected an all included trip to the Disney parks in Orlando, FL when I was younger, because it was going to be by myself. This is an example of wishing you knew then what you know now.
I wasn’t curious at all until one day, in an any given lunch hour, I was shocked to hear a coworker talking about a trip he made by himself to Jamaica. His answer to my reaction was… “Have you ever stopped doing something you really want to do because nobody ever can? Or want to do it?” Good point, I thought then.
I decided to give it a little try and go to MOMA PS1 alone, on my way to visit a friend in Brooklyn. It was interesting to not feel rushed by anyone or have anyone else depend on my time. I explored and learned, not only about what I was seeing, but I also about how I see and feel things as one person.
Mira Dancy (b.1979) Broadway & Canal // Mystique Boutique, 2015. Wall Painting. English: I found a Dominican fellow, part of the staff, who BTW took the picture. I don’t know if other nationalities have this habit, but us Dominicans have this untold game of identifying other Dominicans everywhere we go, and we are a pro on it, because we rarely fail! Español: Encontre un compatriota Dominicano, parte del personal en el museo, quien por cierto tomó la foto. No sé si otras nacionalidades tendrán este habito, pero nosotros los Dominicanos tenemos este juego de identificar otros Dominicanos donde quiera que vamos, y al parecer somos expertos, porque muy raro fallamos.English: As a souvenir to remember my bravery, I bought a nice book, “Damn Good Advice (for people with talent!)” by George Lois. It will forever remind me that being alone has its perks. Spanish: Como souvenir para recordar mi valentía, compré un libro. Por siempre me recordará que estar solo tiene sus ventajas. Velcro, Magnets, custom electronics, intern voice. English: In this game, audience are invited to listen to a reading of a text about the future written by Kim and voiced by a museum intern. The text is audible by means of a handheld device that is designed to be audible when held properly. Kim creates a pathway that, in concert with the game’s console, causes the device to emit the sound at a pace proportional to the participant’s movement. Performed forward or backward, such movements physically enacts the process of “Scrubbing,” by which one fast forwards or rewinds through a recording. Requiring the exertion of a special effort on the part of the listener to achieve comprehension, Kim’s work de-familiarizes and makes explicit the particular form of labor involved in listening, which is often regarded as a passive activity. Remember the things I left pending from the post “In Honor to #3“? Well, given that I was already in Brooklyn/Queens, I checked the points 4, 5 and 8 from list. The friend I was visiting was the friend in common mentioned in number 8, this would be a 2 in one.
English: I’m glad now that I couldn’t go with my other friends before. Sorry girls, but Amalia, my friend in the picture, would never go to these places if it wasn’t because I pushed her!. Long story short, we went to Dumbo, The Brooklyn Bridge Park, and The Brooklyn Bridge. We saw the sculptures by Danish artist Jeppe Hein that I wanted to see. Unfortunately there was one closed, because it was surrounded by water(not appropriate for the cold weather).

Debo advertirles, esta va a ser una publicación bien larga. Así que en caso se canses de leer en algún momento, debo empezar diciendo:

Para los que me han estado preguntando lo que he estado haciendo, o dónde he estado metida… ¡Estoy viva!
Sé que he estado perdida últimamente, y no sólo de escribir en el blog.
He estado tan perdida en la emoción de tachar activiades fuera de mi WL, y el descubrimiento de lo desconocido, que se me ha hecho muy difícil escribir, publicar imágenes en las redes sociales, o hablar con mis seres más cercanos para decirles todas las cosas que he estado haciendo. Una razón suficientemente buena para merecer tu perdón por mi ausencia, ¿no te parece?
Si yo no te he convencido aún, tal vez varios resúmenes de mis nuevas aventuras en los últimos 2 meses podría ayudar.
Fin de semana #1
Acabo de agregar el #46 a la WL , “Viajar Sola”. “Pero ¿por qué sola”, te estarás preguntando. Incluso yo misma dudé que sería divertido hacer algo sin mi “gente divertida” alrededor. Hasta rechacé un viaje todo incluido a los parques de Disney en Orlando, FL cuando era más joven, ya que tendría que ir sola. Este es un buen ejemplo de desear haber sabido antes lo que sé ahora.
Yo no tenía curiosidad en absoluto hasta que un día, en un hora de almuerzo cualquiera, me sorprendí al escuchar a un compañero de trabajo hablando acerca de un viaje que hizo solo a Jamaica. Su respuesta a mi reacción fue… “¿Alguna vez has dejado de hacer algo que realmente quieres hacer porque nadie puede? ¿O quiere hacerlo? ” Buen punto, entonces pensé.
Decidí darle la oportunidad e ir al MOMA PS1 sola, de camino a visitar a una amiga en Brooklyn. Me gustó no sentirme apresurada por otra persona para terminar o tener otra persona dependiendo de mi tiempo. Exploré y aprendí mucho, no sólo de lo que estaba viendo, sino también de cómo veo y siento cosas por mi misma.

Español: A pesar de la tristeza que trae el pensamiento de la muerte, esta escultura me da una buena razón para sentir alivio para cuando llegue el momento en que mi corazón pare de latir y mi sangre se torne fría. English: Despite the sadness that brings the thought of death, this sculpture gives me a good reason to feel relief for when the time comes that my heart stops beating and blood turns cold.Lutz Bacher, Woodman, 2015. Wood. Español: Esta escultura me recuerda la primera ves que me enseñaron este ejercicio. Tan sencillo que se ve, y es todo lo cantrario. Se los recomiendo, si quieresn incluirlo en su entrenamiento. English: This sculpture reminds me of the first time someone showed me this exercise. That looks so simple, and it is quite the opposite. I highly recommend it, if you want to include it in your workout.Español: Pésima foto, lo sé. Te prometo este nuevo año comprar una cámara. Lo importante es ver el concepto de esta cafetería, diseñada como un salón de clases. ¡Me encantó! English: Bad picture, I know. I promise this year to buy a new camera. The important thing is to see the concept of this cafe, designed as a classroom. I loved it!
¿Recuerda las cosas que dejé pendientes en la publicación “En Honor al # 3“? Bueno, dado que yo ya estaba en Brooklyn / Queens, terminé los puntos 4 , 5 y 8 de la lista. La amiga que estaba visitando era la amiga en común mencionada en el número 8, lo cual se convierte en un 2 en uno.
