#45 = My Bedroom Haul

It has been 6 month since I began the construction of my little Kingdom… my bedroom. When I started decorating my room, it was still a pretty cold spring. I used to spend more time at home, which allowed me to work more on this project. Until the weather got warmer, and I left everything as it was to take advantage of the good climate outside.

You are probably wondering why I decided to do this now, especially when there is still a chance to enjoy this weather. Well, my mother, who came to visit us from DR, has been reminding me every single day the things that I have to finish. We all know how persistent moms are. I decided to finally prioritize this issue and avoid her prying. Besides, my room needs to be presentable for the visitors I am having next weekend.

First thing I did was remove the wallpaper from all 4 walls. That took me a week to get it done! I never thought that was going to be that tiresome. As soon as I started removing the paper, I understood why the previous owners of the house put the paper up in the first place: all walls had cracks and holes.

You already know what happened after this discovery… I filled the imperfections with plaster, and sanded it. I hope you believe me when I tell you I did all this by myself, both construction works. My little niece tried to help me, but a 10 years old kid can’t do much.

My cousins and friends came to the rescue and helped me paint. They are the best, thank you guys!

Right after came the last minute touches. Hanging and setting up the decoration, buying all the furniture, and of course assembling them. This was another 2 weeks worth of completing this project, or better said HAUL. Here I stopped, and left pending the following:

Curtains / Shades.

Yes, I had half a year without curtains on my pair of 32 width and 64 long windows, facing the streets. My neighbors should be disappointed that I finally installed them. lol

Repair the jewelry armoire and the heater cover.

I must confess, I took this jewelry armoire from somebody’s garbage left on the sidewalk. At the beginning I painted it white, but it was too sober in here and I changed my mind to yellow. Then, I bought sheets with a lot of yellow on them, it was too much color for my taste. At the end I chose to paint it black with chalkboard paint.

The heater cover was in its natural self, wood. It didn’t go with my room so I matched it with the jewelry armoire. Now, I’m able to write anything on there. How cool is that?!

With black and white furniture I’ll have more color options to play with the decoration, if I ever get bored.

When I was done, I grabbed the chalk and wrote a message to myself and future guests: Have a beautiful nightmare.

Buying the rest of the decoration.

I bought…

A hanging gorgeous “R”. It is supposed to be for keys or jewel, but instead I hanged 3 little blackboards. In each of them I wrote #Family #Love and #Explore.

A magnetic Blackboard (where the #45 is).

Chalk and washable markers.

A bottle to have water in my room. I used to have one, but I broke it with my clumsiness.

A little yellow portrait. There I put our WiFi name and password.

Candles and fragrances.

A pencil box. I needed a castle to complete the hole kingdom idea. It doesn’t matter if I already had one, right? :p

I had everything else you can see in the pictures. There are still some things that I would like to do, but this is enough to feel comfortable to be home in the seasons to come. I’m in love!

# 45 = Proyecto Habitación

Han pasado ya 6 meses desde que empecé la construcción de mi pequeño Reino… mi habitación. Cuando empecé a decorar mi dormitorio, todavía estaba bastante frío, comenzando la primavera. Solía pasar más tiempo en casa, lo que me permitió trabajar más en este proyecto. Hasta que el clima se tornó más cálido, y dejé todo como estaba para aprovechar el buen tiempo afuera.

Probablemente te estás preguntando por qué me decidí a hacer esto ahora, especialmente cuando todavía hay oportunidad de disfrutar de este clima. Bueno, mi madre, que vino a visitarnos de RD, me ha estado recordando cada día las cosas que tengo que terminar. Todos sabemos cómo son las mamás de persistentes. Decidí finalmente darle prioridad a este asunto y evitar sus regaños. Además, mi habitación necesita estar presentable para las visitantes tendré el próximo fin de semana.

Lo primero que hice fue quitar el papel de las 4 paredes. Eso me tomó una semana para hacerlo! Nunca pensé que iba a ser tan tedioso. Tan pronto como empecé a retirar el papel, comprendí por qué los propietarios anteriores de la casa lo pusieron en primer lugar: todas las paredes tenían grietas y agujeros.

Ustedes ya saben lo que pasó después de este descubrimiento… Rellené las imperfecciones con yeso, y las lijé. Espero que me crean cuando les digo que hice todo esto por mí misma, ambas obras de construcción. Mi sobrinita trató de ayudarme, pero una niña de 10 años de edad no puede hacer mucho.

Mis primas y amigos acudieron al rescate y me ayudaron a pintar. Son los mejores, gracias chicos!

Justo después vinieron los toques de última hora. Colgar y la organizar de la decoración, la compra de todo tipo de muebles, y por supuesto el ensamblaje de ellos. Me tocó invertir 2 semanas para completar este proyecto, o mejor dicho MONTAJE. Aquí me detuve, y dejé pendiente lo siguiente:

Cortinas / Persianas.

Sí, tenía la mitad de un año sin cortinas en mi pareja de ventanas de 32″ de ancho y 64″ de largo, de frente a la calle. Mis vecinos deben estar decepcionados de que finalmente las instalé. lol

Reparar el armario de la joyería y la cubierta del calentador.

Debo confesarles, tomé esta armario para joyas de la basura de alguien en la acera. Al principio lo pinté de blanco, pero ya era demasiado sobrio aquí dentro y cambié de opinión a amarillo. Luego, compré sábanas con un montón de amarillo, entonces era demasiado color para mi gusto. Al final opté por pintarlo negro con pintura de pizarra.

La cubierta del calentador estaba en su estado natural, madera. No pegaba con mi habitación, así que lo combiné con el armario de la joyería. Ahora, puedo escribir cualquier cosa allí. ¡¿No te parece genial?!

Con muebles en blanco y negro tendré más opciones de colores para jugar con la decoración, si es que me aburro.

Cuando terminé, cogí la tiza y escribí un mensaje para mí misma y mis futuros visitantes: Que tengan una hermosa pesadilla.

Comprar el resto de la decoración.

Compré…

Una hermosa “R” colgante. Se supone que es para las llaves o joyas, pero en lugar de eso colgué 3 pequeñas pizarras. En cada uno de ellas escribí #Family #Love y #Explore.
Una Pizarra magnética (donde está el # 45).
Tiza y marcadores lavables.
Una botella para tener agua en mi habitación. Anteriormente tenía una, pero la rompí con mi torpeza.
Un pequeño porta retrato amarillo. Allí puse el nombre del WiFi y la contraseña.
Velas y fragancias.
Una caja de lápices. Necesitaba un castillo para completar la idea del reino. No importa si ya tenía una, ¿cierto? : p

Tenía todo lo demás que pueden ver en las fotos. Todavía hay algunas cosas que me gustaría hacer, pero esto es suficiente para sentirme cómoda estando en casa en las próximas temporadas por venir. ¡Estoy enamorada!
